Monthly Wellness Note

Hello September

As we move into September, this is a gentle time to check in with your body, stress, sleep, and overall sense of balance.

September brings a noticeable shift in our routines and in the world around us. While the autumn equinox doesn’t officially arrive until later in the month, we can often feel the transition toward fall beginning much earlier—cooler mornings, changing daylight, busier schedules, and the return to school and regular routines.

For many families, this time of year also means increased exposure to the everyday germs that come with classrooms, sports, activities, and being back in close contact with others. It’s a wonderful time to begin supporting your body’s natural defenses and creating simple wellness habits that can carry you through the changing season.

In this month’s newsletter, we’re highlighting a few Fall Wellness Essentials to help support immune health, restful sleep, healthy digestion, and overall resilience as we move into autumn.

And there’s much more to explore! In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing a deeper look at the transition into fall from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, including how seasonal changes can affect our energy, immunity, digestion, emotions, and overall well-being—and how we can work with the season rather than against it.

As we settle into the rhythm of fall, think of September as a time to prepare, replenish, and support your body before the season is fully underway.

FAQ of the Month

Why does cupping leave marks?

Cupping can leave temporary marks because the suction brings blood closer to the surface of the skin. From a TCM perspective, these marks are thought to reflect areas where circulation was more stagnant or congested. Darker marks may indicate greater stagnation, while lighter marks suggest less. The marks are temporary and usually fade within several days as the body returns to normal circulation.
